
FOOD CART FRENZY
If you are a regular connoisseur of TacoFino, JapaDog, Re-up, or any other of the many mobile meals available in the growing food cart scene in the city, then listen up! The City of Vancouver will be approving 12 new food cart vendors to add to the already popular carts throughout the city streets.
There is currently a shortlist of 25 applicants who served samples of their offerings to a panel of judges including Sun Food editor Juanita Ng, who wrote about her judging experience.
Our friends over at Inside Vancouver listed the top 25 concepts, which we have shared below. Whether you are gluten free or consider bacon a condiment, there is truly something for everyone in the new cart shortlist.

- A pork lovers’ cart with bacon-inspired treats.
- British-Indian cuisine
- Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flatbreads
- Smoothies
- Julia Child meets French bistro (love the name)
- Contemporary Chinese snacks and dim sum
- North Carolina BBQ sandwiches
- Organic British pub fare
- Authentic Thai street food
- Sustainable meat sandwiches/dishes
- Wood-fired pizzas ($10)
- Salvadoran cuisine with emphasis on pupusas
- Italian subs
- Ethical burgers

- Seasonal and local-inspired Mediterranean staples
- West Coast po’boy sarnies and salads
- Innovative pierogies

- Wood-fired pizzas ($6-8)
