SMITH, COUPLAND, AND WALLACE ON WEST COAST ART
With the development of a unique West Coast Modern architecture came a similarly distinctive style of West Coast art established by such iconic artists as Jack Shadboldt, Alistair Bell, B.C. Binning and Gordon Smith. These artists taught at the Vancouver School of Art (now the Emily Carr University of Art and Design) and UBC between the 1950s and 1980s and taught a generation of West Coast artists.
